As an update to our customers, we wanted to notify you of upcoming changes within our stores to stay in-line with current government mandates.

We will be temporarily adjusting our store hours going forward, beginning on Monday, November 16th, 2020:

Our South Avenue location in Boardman will operate:
- Mon-Fri: 8:00am-5:00pm
- Sat: 9:00am-3:00pm
Our Niles location will operate:
- Mon-Fri: 10:00am-5:00pm
- Sat: 10:00am-4:00pm
Our Canfield location will operate:
- Mon-Fri: 10:00am-6:00pm
- Sat: 10:00am-4:00pm

These adjusted hours are necessary as it will give us the ability to restock items and perform additional cleaning and sanitizing, as well as help with staffing during the holiday season.

Our thoughts are with anyone who has been impacted by COVID-19. We are staying in close contact with the CDC and will continue to make sure that our business practices are consistent with the most up-to-practices.

At Ghossain’s, your health and safety is always a top priority. We’ve always taken great pride in our clean stores, and we know this is more important than ever right now.

In response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), we will continue to do everything we can to ensure your safety. We have taken additional guidance developed by global and local public health authorities (including the WHO and CDC) to make our regular cleaning and hygiene protocols even more rigorous.

Our guests and staff are urged to follow the CDC’s recommendations for protecting yourself from the virus including:

Covering coughs and sneezes with something other than your hand
Washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
Routine wiping and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces.

We plan to keep our stores open during these uncertain times. If you plan to limit your travel, order ahead pick-up and delivery options are available to serve you. Additional delivery options are also available through DoorDash, and Uber Eats, and you can access our full menu here.

Ghossain’s has always made a promise concerning limiting artificial additives to our foods, and as such, these additional measures further align with our company mission: we will continue to closely monitor the situation and do all we can to keep you and your family safe and healthy.

Due to romaine lettuce concerns, Ghossain’s has switched to green leaf lettuce and spring mix several weeks ago before the recall was in effect… thank you for your continued patronage!

Expanded dining area, freshly prepared food items, groceries to be featured

Ghossain’s Gourmet Mediterranean Foods continues a 48-year tradition with the Grand Opening of their newest location at 4559 Boardman-Canfield Rd. in Canfield.

The Canfield Ghossain’s joins two existing locations in Boardman and Niles. The company was started in 1970 by Joseph Ghossain Sr., who had previously operated Humble’s Restaurant in Youngstown. It continued under the operation of his sons Fred and Nick, and Joseph Ghossain Jr. now represents the third generation of the family to own and operate the business.

The new, beautifully decorated location features an expanded café with seating for up to 50 and will be open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am–6:30 pm. With the exception of wraps and other bread items, which are baked at Ghossain’s Boardman location, all food will be prepared on-site in Ghossain’s traditional manner — simple, fresh, hand-chopped and with no preservatives.

“The Mediterranean-style diet that has become very popular in recent years and is touted by health professionals is nothing new for us,” says Ghossain. “It’s what we’ve been doing from the very beginning. We pride ourselves on choices that are healthful as well as delicious.”

In addition to wraps, salads and other fare available for both dine-in and carryout, Ghossain’s carries an extensive line of Mediterranean-style grocery items, such as baked goods, beans and grains, spices and sweets. They are also renowned for their catering services.

The new Ghossain’s will employ around 15 people, bringing the total number of employees company-wide to approximately 35.

A ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, February 7 at 10:00 am will mark the official Grand Opening of Ghossain’s Gourmet Mediterranean Foods’ newest location on Rte. 224 in Canfield.

Ghossain’s began in Youngstown in 1970 and is now operated by third-generation owner Joe Ghossain Jr. Samples of Ghossain’s delicious Mediterranean food will be available in the store’s expanded dining area.

The new Ghossain’s joins the company’s existing locations in Boardman and Niles.

Gluten-free foods are fast becoming more popular due to the growing number of people diagnosed with Gluten Intolerance or Celiac’s Disease. At Ghossain’s, we’ve experienced an increased interest, from our customers, for gluten-free foods. We’re happy to announce we have several different deli items we can offer people who request gluten-free foods. Our newest item is Gluten-free Tabouli! It’s still the same great tasting salad, but, instead of Bulghur wheat, we use Quinoa. This is a special-order item, so please call ahead and place your order.

We’re taking orders for our Easter Bread. Customize your bread by choosing with or without Anise and with or without raisins. Make sure your Easter dinner is complete with our delicious bread. Our original hummus has been a staple in our deli for years. But within the last few years, we’ve been slowly adding new delicious flavors that we know will be crowd-pleasers. Here is our updated list of all our Hummus choices… Original Garlic, Roasted Red Pepper, Spinach, Spinach-Artichoke, Ranch, Sun-dried Tomato, Buffalo, Hot Pepper, Black Bean….and our newest flavor additon, Jalapeno-Cilantro!

Quinoa pronounced “Keen-wah’ has made it’s way into almost every health magazine available. Although it’s been around for centuries, originating in South America, it’s popularity had broken all demographic boundaries and it can be easliy found in Health Food stores and grocery stores alike. Why is Quinoa so popular? Because it’s one of the few foods that has almost the perfect balance of the eight essential Amino Acids and an added bonus is it’s Gluten-free. Quinoa ia actually a seed from a plant called the “Goosefoot” plant from Ande Mountains in South America. There are several color variations of Quinoa. Different colors of Quinoa mean different levels of nutrients. The most common color is the white Quinoa, which Ghossain’s sell in bulk and we make and sell two types of Quinoa salad in our deli. Quinoa has absolutely no taste so making a Quinoa side dish can be a very adventurous and fun task. Our suggestion is to use your favorite fruits or veggies, and vinaigrettes. Don’t limit yourself there though, toasted nuts, sauteed veggies, grilled meats, virtually anything can be mixed with Quinoa to create a delicious and healthy meal your whole family will love. Just think of Quinoa as a very plain rice, and you can combine it with any type of food. When you come in to the store, we’ll give you instructions on how to prepare and cook Quinoa. You’ll be amazed how easy it is. If you don’t want to cook it, we suggest you try our Quinoa salads. They’re quite tasty and very healthy!
